Mission Statement

In the spirit of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi, the San Damiano Foundation seeks to show the love of Christ through the creation and production of high quality films to help faith based non-profit organizations raise funds and bring greater awareness of their work. As a ministry and in service to God, we “Put the Power of Film at the Service of the Poor” for organizations that seek to eliminate the suffering caused by poverty and improve the quality of life of those most in need.

The Vision

The ministry of The San Damiano Foundation focuses on creating films for non-profit organizations that need help raising funds and creating greater awareness of their work. We do this by creating a film and video package tailored to each organization by a professional producer and crew. This package consists of a 30-minute feature film for distribution or television release, a 10-minute promotional film, a 5-minute “new media” informational video, a 2-minute music video montage to provide an alternative tool for creating emotional interest, and a 30-second public service announcement.

In addition, we advise our “Partners” in promoting their ministry, including on the Internet social networking sites. The “New Media” holds the most potential for creating a worldwide “buzz” about each Partner and the San Damiano Foundation. By using YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking media, our Partners have the potential to reach out and touch millions of lives by creating greater awareness of extreme poverty and the organizations that are working hard trying to end it.

We will also produce at least one full-length feature documentary per year about a person or subject related to extreme poverty. This professionally produced film is intended for educational purposes for viewing in homes, schools, as well as broadcast television. This film is different from the fundraising film packages in that it is a broader and more in-depth story of an extraordinary person, group, or subject who exemplifies the spirit of St. Francis and St. Clare.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
